M/Y TACANUYA, 57m

Following an unfortunate accident that M/Y Tacanuya was involved in August 2004 in Sardinia , Italy , damage occurred on M/Y Tacanuya on aft port side bar deck involving damaged aluminum bulwark and deck, caprail , wooden linings, wooden flooring, bar deck windows and some furniture. Non-permanent repairs were carried out at the time in Italy . As per Owner's request and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) recommendations, permanent damage repairs were made during the winter maintenance and repairs period (2004):

  • Removal of bar deck sliding windows, furniture, wooden linings, flooring, ceilings as well as removal of 2 fan coil units and associated electrical and piping in way of damaged area.
  • Cropping-off of damaged aluminum deck and bulwark structure.
  • Welding of new aluminum plates.
  • Filler application externally, fairing and painting in way of renewed aluminum structure.
  • New wooden flooring and wooden linings installation.
  • New caprail installation.
  • New sliding windows installation including stainless steel framing.
  • Repair of damaged furniture and ceilings.
  • Reinstallation of fan coils including electrical and piping connections.
  • Painting of the entire vessels' Port Side for appearance reasons (repaired area not to be visible).

Aluminum plates renewal was made up to specifications from our appointed Naval Architect consultants, Messrs. Kappa Marine, and the entire claim works were made to the satisfaction of the ABS surveyor. The relevant ABS claim report was submitted to the underwriters.

Additionally the Owner requested the following modifications and upgrades to be carried out on his vessel by PrivatSea Projects:

  • Modification of 1 cabin into two (2) separate cabins to accommodate a total of 7 guests or staff.
  • Upgrade of the air-conditioning system on Bar Deck aft to be more effective and less noisy.
  • Modification of the stools of the exterior bar on Sun Deck to allow for back and forth movement when sited.
  • Replacement of the carpet in the salon of Main Deck.

The maintenance works made during the same period and PrivatSea Projects provided services concerned Machinery and Deck & Hotel items as per the vessel's works lists as well as ABS surveys.
